Profile 1
This is the first profile in a series I’m doing in connection with my other comic, ELDERNET. This series is a combination of annotations, explanations, unposted art, restored art I deleted from my Instagram, and comic art without the speech balloons.
PRODUCTS:
All cells exist on a continuum between commercial and personal usage. Products are the visual-tactile object units that commercial cells automatically generate and that users can buy to populate their own cells. The Products that populate a given cell or user help determine the user’s Rating, Exposure, and preferences. Products are instantly transferred from the commercial platform to the individual user’s cell upon purchase1.
Products include items, pets, and outfits2. The “practical function” of a product is always secondary to its aesthetic effect, if it has one at all.
Products are customized before purchase based on user preferences. They are also updated following purchase to reflect the user’s changing persona. In rare cases, when the user’s rating suddenly drops, they may lose access to Products they had purchased previously.
This is because users technically do not buy Products, but the renewable right to see and share the idea of a Product.
Other updates:
The Cast page now covers nearly all of the characters who appear in Chapters 1–6 and their cells.
All pages up through Chapter 5, page 29 are now readable online.
We are approaching the end of Chapter 5, at which point I will break for approximately one month before beginning Chapter 6.
Thanks for reading.
The commercial-personal continuum is not a binary and cells change position depending on the user’s rating and exposure. The higher one’s exposure, the more the cell symbolizes a platform, not a person.
Including markings and body mods.
