PSINKTOBER_DAY01
A bit different
I originally started this Substack purely as a feature of ELDERNET. My intent was to post only ELDERNET content and nothing else.
The reason I am using it for something entirely unrelated to ELDERNET (a 30-day drawing challenge called Inktober, or, in my case, Psinktober) is not to spam you, but due to the strained situation between me and Instagram (where I’d normally post Inktober):
Primarily because Meta is more aggressively pursuing AI scraping than almost any other social media platform, and I am trying to maintain solidarity with other artists who have left the platform or sued Meta for their agenda.
Also because this Inktober series isn’t like the others I’ve done and requires a bit more context that wouldn’t translate to Instagram.
It is true that Substack automatically opts users in to AI scraping, but, unlike on Meta platforms, it’s pretty straightforward to opt out (efficacy is another question, but I’ll take it over what Meta has to offer, which is nothing). I have, of course, opted out.
Every day this month, I’ll draw a single-page comic discussing subjects related to the entire scope of psychiatry, while also adhering to the official Inktober prompt list.
As a final note, there is a tenuous link between psychiatry and ELDERNET, so you can view this series as a sort of distant cousin to ELDERNET, at least.
I do not intend this series to be a personal history. My interest is in critiquing psychiatry, not mining my life for content1. Assume that all stories and case studies are either fictitious or taken from other authors (who I will credit as need be).
With all that out of the way, let’s begin.
You can also find this series on Cara and Tumblr as well.
Thanks for reading.
My life isn’t actually all that interesting or disturbing anyway, so I think you’d be bored if I did that.
