Both lines are paraphrases, not quotes, because I couldn’t find primary sources for either. Porot’s is taken from Sasha Warren’s Storming Bedlam (2024), Carothers’s is from Sloan Mahone’s “Three Psychologies of Mau Mau” (2021). The smallest target is on Martinique, where Frantz Fanon, an anti-colonial psychiatrist activist who condemned both Porot and Carothers, was born.
