PSINKTOBER_DAY24
Prompt: Expedition
I’m not saying that disability of any kind is a “superpower” or something clichéd like that, but rather that disability prepares people to navigate and survive disordered environments without becoming disordered themselves, while also making things harder in other ways.
On the other hand, people with normative, highly socialized perspectives on reality—and both the body and neurology are ways of conforming (which is why I mention Billy Reston from House of Leaves)—are highly vulnerable to disorder when that reality gets taken away (say, by an incomprehensible terraforming entity, or a world war).
The explanation of differences between terms—disability, disorder, neurodivergent, etc.—will get its own post.
Also, don’t worry, I’m not really a House of Leaves fan.
