Prompt: Navigator
For the record, I actually like Monk; for all its faults, it’s too wholesome and gentle for me to criticize much.
On the other hand, I will never stop hating on Doki Doki Literature Club, which remains one of the worst stories involving mental illness I’ve ever had the misfortune to encounter.
I use disability in reference to largely immutable material conditions, and disorder in reference to pathological bio-psycho-social patterns. Autism is a disability because it’s a neutral, material neurosomatic experience (it can’t nor should be “cured”). BPD (just to use a random example I haven’t brought up yet) is a disorder because it’s a system of thoughts and behaviors that destabilizes safety, comfort, and efficiency. There’s obviously a lot of crossover I can’t really get into here, but suffice to say I try and avoid lumping in autism (and other forms of neurodivergent disability) with the disorders whenever possible. I’m providing this annotation because this comic could conceivably be read as stating the opposite, and I want to be clear about my position.
