SPECTASUN

I got tired of drawing.

I have no idea what additional context or information my audience might want, so I will abstain from providing any beyond that present in the video.

I cannot in good conscience name anyone who helped me execute this performance. Still, I need to credit them, as they demonstrated more trust and faith in me and my art than I felt I deserved while I was planning it. My concern is more with plausible deniability than with total anonymity, and initials are a time-honored means of securing the former. Thus:

Thanks to J. H., J. W., and K. A. for the best critiques I got from anyone, both while I was planning the project, after I’d done it, and after I sent you the video. Also thanks for driving me to critique nights and to The Apple Store for a prior iteration of the performance. If I did not incorporate your suggestions into the performance or video, it is not because they were bad suggestions, but because my concepts were more solidified than I realized when I presented them to you for suggestions.

Thanks to J. S. for loaning me his table. Thank you for taking it in stride after I told you what I’d used it for.

Thanks to everyone who appears in the video.

Special thanks to B. J. for driving me to the Amazon office, helping me set up, loaning me his camera, tripod, and micro SD reader, driving me back once I had finished, and filming the scenes shot from inside his car. It’s hard to find people you can count on. You’re one of them.

Disclaimer: I have no intentions to harm myself or others. A counselor evaluated me during the performance and declared me not a threat to myself or others.

Because I was clearly filming and not “in a manner that would offend or embarrass” the participants, in a public place, and the film does not depict areas of the body “that would not be visible to ordinary observation,” the work does not violate Tennessee Code 39-13-601 or 39-13-605. That said, if you appear in the video and would prefer it be removed, I will comply with your request. My quarrel is with a corporation, not with an individual, and I don’t want anyone hurt in my quarrel.
